Liberation

Per Dictionary.com, Liberation is defined as the act or fact of gaining equal rights or full social or economic opportunities for particular group.

I recently made a video for YouTube entitled, “Desperation”. I talked about the woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8: 42-48. She had been bleeding for 12 years. Seen every Doctor and spent all her money with no cure. This woman was ceremonially unclean and if anyone knew she was bleeding she could be stoned to death. Jesus was surrounded by crowds of people pushing to touch him, but he only responded to her. She was desperate to be healed and heard he was nearby. This woman risked everything to touch Jesus in the hope that she would be healed. She only touched the hem of his garment and received healing. woman with blood

In this conversation, I focused on her desperation to be healed from her issue and how being molested makes you desperate. Desperation is dangerous. Initially, we cling to things that will never resolve our desperation. Things like sex, drugs, violence, self destruction, or mutilation to name a few from personal experience.

The latter part of the passage has caught my attention in a new way.

Luke 8:48 NKJV ” and Jesus said to her, “daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

That “Go in peace” part is the icing to this cake. This woman received far more than she anticipated. She just wanted the flow of blood to stop. To receive just enough deliverance from her affliction.  But Jesus, saw her and affirmed her. He gave her a name, his stamp of ownership, Daughter. Now, she is no longer the woman with the issue of blood. She is the daughter of God. She is whole. She is accepted. She is walking away from the place that she was crawling in to relieve her desperation. She walked away from the encounter with Jesus in liberation.

I identify so much with this story. For the greater portion of my life, I felt like her, unworthy, dirty, rejected, fearful, depleted, desperate. To see that her desperation made her bold with faith to do something crazy like physically touch the actual Son of God, Jesus Christ. The best part about it is that her faith manifested in the natural and the bleeding stopped IMMEDIATELY just by touching a piece of Jesus’ clothes!

Instantaneous freedom keeps stirring in my soul as I write this. This instantaneous freedom can take place in your bathroom, closet, bedroom, car, living room, shoot wherever you are to be honest. All you have to do is be brutally honest with God and share what makes you feel bound, depressed, dirty, just outright “blah”, and give it to Him like you’d hand someone a fork. Then, ask Him to replace those things with His Spirit.

I tried it in my kitchen and it worked! God healed me IMMEDIATELY, I felt lighter, brighter, peaceful, and the presence of God. That’s the first time I felt the presence of God for myself and His presence became my favorite place.  A safe place.

Thanks for reading my post. I pray it helps someone. I love y’all:o)
